Responding to the brief ‘Perspectives on the future’, I wanted to express how I felt about one particular topic: War, especially in the Middle East. As a young person from Yemen, I wish for my country and others to have stability and to be a place to thrive rather than survive. This piece represents a future where people can look up and see birds rather than being followed by fighter planes. Even after war, their shadow follows us, creates long-term generational trauma and unliveable conditions. The war in Yemen is officially “over” but people will still feel the effects of it for years to come.
